Wizzupok01:25
Wizzupthanks01:25
Wizzupthis was about tmo, though01:25
DocScrutinizer05tmo should work01:29
Wizzupthis is about tmo only01:29
Wizzupbut I need sleep first01:29
Wizzup:)01:29
DocScrutinizer05tmo is basically completely unentangled to maemo.org at large01:29

raphaDocScrutinizer05: the N900s battery finally arrived and i'm playing around with it for real now. Unfortunately I lost the link to your wiki page about first things to do in a new Maemo installation, could you post that again?03:04
raphaoh never mind the wiki is down :(03:06
* rapha is already discovering that the best place to temporarily store the pen is in his mouth03:07
KotCzarnydont forget to wash it periodically then03:08
KotCzarnyor maybe dissinfect in vodka?03:09
rapha:)03:09
raphano alcohol for me but saliva is antiseptic, so no worries ;)03:09
KotCzarnyjust saying. anyway, usually first thing to do is to install cssu03:10
KotCzarny~cssu03:10
infobotcssu is probably http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU, or (Community Seamless Software Update)03:10
raphaKotCzarny: is that possible with the maemo.org servers down?03:10
KotCzarnyrepo should be online, and wiki is mirrored on web archive03:10
* rapha tries03:10
KotCzarnyahm, forgot, before cssu, reflash it03:11
KotCzarny~flashing03:11
infobotmaemo-flashing is probably http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_tablet_firmware, or - on linux PC - download&extract http://maemo.cloud-7.de/maemo5/patches_n_tools/maemo-my-private-workdir.tgz, cd into it, do sudo ./flash-it-all.sh; or see ~flashing-cmdline, or see ~lazyflashing03:11
raphaKotCzarny: it's freshly flashed.03:11
KotCzarnyby you or the seller?03:12
raphaby me of course03:12
raphaand it was a gift by my uncle03:12
raphahad to revive it first with DocScrutinizer05's help03:12
DocScrutinizer05~tell rapha about jrtools03:13
raphahmm too bad our internet connection is sort of broken and doesn't load web.archive.org right now :(03:13
raphaDocScrutinizer05: hi!03:13
raphaah perfect, that one it was!03:14
raphabut doesn't load either :(03:14
raphai've already watched too much wireshark TV for today though03:15
KotCzarnymaybe try some proxy? load on some remote shell via lynx/links ?03:15
DocScrutinizer05try https://web.archive.org/web/20161019054240/http://wiki.maemo.org/User:Joerg_rw/tools03:15
DocScrutinizer05the forward is a stopgap bandaid03:16
raphanah we already tried everything. there was one device on the network that is apparently malware infected and i blocked that by MAC which made things a little better. but by and large, the router seems to be incapable of handling the traffic. around 6% packet loss minimum.03:17
raphanew router is on its way...03:17
KotCzarnyyou can try using pc as a router03:17
DocScrutinizer05ouch03:17
DocScrutinizer05mind posting sorry03:18
DocScrutinizer05mind posting your IP in a query?03:18
raphaKotCzarny: if i had a pc, then i could :)03:18
KotCzarny:)03:18
KotCzarnyanother thing to try would be changing web browser timeouts03:19
raphaDocScrutinizer05: as in, our public ip? you wanna see what is going in / coming out of it?03:19
DocScrutinizer05after all a 6% packet loss might as wel be the connection03:19
DocScrutinizer05I'd check external ping packet loss03:20
raphaDocScrutinizer05: naw, when i go down to the basement and disconnect the router and go directly to upstream, all is well.03:20
DocScrutinizer05oooh03:20
raphaKotCzarny: how do i change /my/ timeout settings tho?03:20
DocScrutinizer05pondered your router beeing routed (SCNR)03:20
raphaSCNR?03:20
DocScrutinizer05rooted even03:20
DocScrutinizer05Sorry Could Bot resist03:20
DocScrutinizer05Not03:21
raphalol03:21
DocScrutinizer05~wtf scnr03:21
infobotSCNR: sorry, could not resist03:21
rapha:)03:21
raphait's a TP-Link R470T+ and it's a POS to use another acronym03:21
KotCzarnyhmm, https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/99808803:21
KotCzarny2014, but if its firefox go to about:config and type: timeout03:22
raphadefinitely not the right size for a house of 8 parties, 16 people, ~80 devices03:22
DocScrutinizer05http://www.cvedetails.com/vendor/11936/Tp-link.html03:22
raphaKotCzarny: the browsers time out after, like, 5 minutes. as i said, my brain's timeout is much shorter.03:22
DocScrutinizer05err yep03:22
raphaDocScrutinizer05: good thing the tp-link is not directly reachable from the outside :)03:23
KotCzarnyrapha, you can also tether your computer to the phone ;)03:23
raphahhhhh03:23
DocScrutinizer05rapha: but from inside, via a compromised device !!! :-o03:23
raphaand suck up the rest of my 500 remaining MB for this month? i'll be in a train for 6 hours tomorrow and another 6 on sunday03:24
KotCzarnyor you can just go to sleep and wait for better time ;)03:24
raphaDocScrutinizer05: hmm that would at least explain why the problem seems to be getting worse over time03:24
KotCzarnycheers!03:24
raphaKotCzarny: that sounds like the healthy choice :)03:24
*** krnlyng has quit IRC03:24
raphahmm guys03:25
raphawhat's the N900's default password to use for sudo?03:25
DocScrutinizer05none03:25
DocScrutinizer05the command is "root"03:26
raphaoh03:26
DocScrutinizer05you need rootsh installed for that03:26
raphaah03:26
rapha:(03:26
raphawell, not like it had working apt repos anyways, plus it's in the same stupid wlan network03:27
DocScrutinizer05why :( ?03:27
DocScrutinizer05ooh03:27
raphathe sun will rise on more days03:27
rapha(obama said something like this recently)03:28
raphaanywho, g'night dear maemoers!03:30
DocScrutinizer05http://paste.opensuse.org/29553254 but that doesn't help you either, right? Sory then03:32
DocScrutinizer05If I could find rootsh.deb I'd pastebin it for you, you should be able to click on it in browser and HAM will install it (possibly you need to first download it and then click on the local file URI)03:34

bencohkerio: our gst-ffmpeg is too old to decode opus12:45
bencohI actually wonder if we could update gst-ffmpeg to something not antic while still sticking to gstreamer 0.1012:48
bencoh(for ABI reasons .... as usual)12:48
bencohone could also port the 0.10.x gst-ffmpeg to latest ffmpeg API, but, err ...12:49
KotCzarnybetter to focus on mainline kernel and the rest12:50
keriosays the dude with the competing media player >:c12:59
KotCzarnyits nice to have alternative, isnt it?12:59
KotCzarnynot to mention i can play anything LATEST libav can, and more!12:59
KotCzarnyand if omp could provide ui suiting my needs i wouldnt have to write it in the first place13:00

KotCzarnymedia formats/codecs13:13
Vajbtho i would switch to oscp if it integrated to omp skin ;)13:13
KotCzarnyo.O13:14
Vajb(jk)13:14
KotCzarny(for a moment i was considering big-and-ugly ui :P )13:14
Vajbhehee13:14
bencohI actually have a really tiny (mplayer-like) gstreamer player for n900 lying around :)13:18
bencohnever released it, but....13:18
KotCzarnybencoh: maemo coding competition13:19
KotCzarnyits a chance to show it for the people13:19
bencohhuhu13:19
bencohit's not exactly pretty13:19
bencohwell the code is quite clean, the minimalist UI needs some love13:19
KotCzarnyif it works, has no meamleaks and is useful, why not?13:19
bencohbut at least it has an overlay UI (buttons/slider on top of video)13:20
KotCzarnysome people love minimalism13:21
*** N-Mi has joined #maemo13:21
bencohI do ;)13:21
KotCzarnyslap on maemo integration and you may have a winner ;)13:21
bencohhttp://pastebin.notk.org/pastebin.php?show=d1e4163ad13:21
bencohit never passed the first commit :)13:22

bencohI actually started it out of frustration at cutetube and its tearing artifacts13:23
KotCzarnythat's how software comes to life usually13:24
bencohand mafw-gst-renderer needs to be restarted quite often13:24
bencohnote that the tearing artifacts aren't cutetube's fault, but qt4/phonon and the way they handle video13:24
