peterleinchenHi all.23:00
juicemeHiya!23:01
juicemehow's things?23:02
peterleinchenquite okay :)23:02
peterleinchenneed 5 minutes to get to bed ...23:03
juicemeallright, having meeting from da bed? :)23:03
*** MentalistTraceur has joined #maemo-meeting23:06
juicemeMentalistTraceur, hi!23:07
MentalistTraceurHey!23:07
juicemehow's the weather there?23:07
MentalistTraceurAcceptable. A bit rainy.23:07
juicemenot snow though? we are having nice -5C and sunny weather here23:08
peterleinchenback from da bed :)23:08
juiceme:)23:09
peterleinchenjuiceme, tell me more about snow. how does it look like? :(23:09
peterleinchenjuiceme, all lega and knees okay?23:09
peterleinchens/lega/legs/23:10
juicemecool, nice to look at, not so much when there's a kilo of the stuff under your clothes :)23:10
juicemeyes, no broken bones23:10
peterleinchenpowder?23:11
peterleinchenor track boarder?23:11
MentalistTraceurNo, I'm in FL.23:11
juicemeI only wish. there's not been enough fall to get good powdery rides23:11
juicemethe slopes are pretty much icy over23:11
juicemeFlorida... not much snow there this time of the year :)23:12
MentalistTraceurSo this weekend I learned when compiling nodejs 0.12.0 on one of my N900s, that the GCC 4.6 in the repos actually defaults to a wrong/older ARM architecture.23:13
juicemesaw some crazy stuff yesterday, are you familiar with downhill skating :)23:13
MentalistTraceurARMv4${something_or_other}, instead of ARMv7-A23:13
juicemeMentalistTraceur, how were you able to compile v8 on 4.6?23:13
juicemeI have found the bloody thing requires fairly new compiler23:14
MentalistTraceurI don't remember having to do anything special once I fixed the architecture problem by adding -march=armv7-a to g++'s args.23:15
juicememmh, at least on mips it does not work that easy23:15
juicemelast week I was trying to do some profiling stuff on node/v8, to find a suspected memory leak and I had no end of trouble with compiler versions...23:16
MentalistTraceurIf it makes you feel any better I had a similar plight with fwknop and GCC 4.223:16
juicemeit does ease my pain a little :)23:17
MentalistTraceurAs an added bonus, it built fine, but then segfaulted.23:21
MentalistTraceurSo I guess Oksana is out for the time being? Something about vacation?23:22
juicemeyes I got that impression.23:23
MentalistTraceurAs a status update on my end, I did /not/, once again, get around to looking at the PHP code.23:23
juicemeSo am I BTW but still managed to attend23:23
juicemeyes, I think everybody has been worrying about the TM thingy lately23:23
peterleinchenexactly23:25
juicemeAlso for the record, not much to report from me either. The banking status is now ongoing, hopefully all papers are accepted so we need not refill anything.23:25
peterleinchenjuiceme, thanks. which bank was now chosen?23:25
juicemeDeutche Bank23:26
peterleinchenokay. anything to discuss about TMs?23:26
peterleinchenI guess no, or?23:27
juicemenot really.23:27
peterleinchenas we would need board members present23:27
juicemethere was this suggestion to put up the thing in indiegogo, any sense in that?23:27
peterleinchenoh, one we have! :)23:27
juicemeto make the community decide what they want to support23:28
peterleinchenhmm, not really23:28
peterleincheneven the worldwide TM renewal would be such a stretch goal, but fund raising for an eV on igg/....23:29
peterleinchen?23:29
juicemewell there's been stranger things there I guess23:29
peterleinchenTHAT is true, indeed!23:30
MentalistTraceurI think an indiegogo has a particular level of fundraising management convenience that just going "donate plz" doesn't: it let people see current progress as immediately, AND the stretch-goal functionality allows people to have a much more visual indicator of what they're fundraising money up-to.23:30
MentalistTraceurWow lots of grammar-messing-up typos in that...23:31
MentalistTraceurBut I think you can still read it.23:31
peterleinchenbut do we expect more publicity for Maemo on igg/ks/...? really?23:31
juicemey, the message got thru23:31
peterleinchenMentalistTraceur, yep23:32
MentalistTraceurNo, I wouldn't expect more publicity, but it's not at all about the publicity from my perspective,23:34
MentalistTraceurI didn't suggest it to try to reach a wider audience, but just to make donations from the existing audience easier to raise.23:35
juicemeit is true using igg makes it transparent. Just one thing though, as the visibility *will* be wider than usual community, can it be harmful somehow?23:37
peterleinchenokay, but they also take 4% (or even 10?)23:37
MentalistTraceurAt any rate, I think what we really want to figure out, is specifically what the priority of each class of TMs is. As I noted in my emails, I think Class 9 > Class 42 > Class 38, so much so that I think dropping the class 38 registrations anywhere is probably better than losing Class 9 country registrations, and that dropping class 42 might be better than losing Class 9 registrations.23:38
peterleinchenjuiceme, harming I cannot see now using igg&co. what do you have in mind?23:38
juiceme10% is not that bad I guess, as even plain transfer via any means will take some cut23:38
peterleinchenMTraceur, yep. my view also23:39
peterleinchenfor EU we can (and should) keep all three for same price23:39
juicemepeterleinchen, by harmful I mean if some hostile party sees that we raise money to get TM's they might try to wrest those from us?23:40
MentalistTraceurjuiceme: possible, but I imagine not too likely.23:40
juicemeI don't know, might be unlikely23:40
peterleinchenjuiceme, there are always bad guys out there ;)23:40
juiceme:)23:40
peterleinchenbut I do not think so23:41
peterleinchenone item that I could not remember last meeting:23:42
peterleinchenthe wiki page "updating the firmware" is locked23:42
MentalistTraceurAnyway, I guess the prioritization needs to wait until we've checked with Roschier what the cost breakdown is on each class, as well as clarification on what exactly falls under each description. I can draft those questions up for us to review tonight or tomorrow, and then that can send them to Roschier whenever the next email goes out to them.23:42
peterleinchenand some guy wanted to do so, but could not23:42
peterleinchenMT, please do so23:43
peterleinchenso about wiki23:44
peterleinchenjoerg_rw locked that page aeons ago23:44
peterleinchenI do not know why23:44
peterleinchenso either open it up?23:44
peterleinchenor get it edited (sixwheeledbeast?) to reflect new mirrors for flasher tools?23:45
juicemeis there a list of wiki admins somewhere, who have power to lock/unlock?23:45
peterleinchenhmm? if I knew only ;)23:45
juicemebut you are correct, probably sixwheeledbeast is one of them. and rzr maybe?23:46
MentalistTraceurI'm guessing the lock was in response to either unofficial backups of firmware images being linked (and not being legally allowed to be), or conversely, people removing links for some reason (despite them being allowed to be linked). Hard to imagine the latter case, but including it for completeness.23:47
MentalistTraceur..but that's neither here nor there.23:47
MentalistTraceurWe can send mail to the techstaff alias to find out who can.23:48
peterleinchenyes, only reasonable explanation23:48
MentalistTraceurAnd/or I can ask on the maemo-admin channel,23:48
peterleinchenplease ask on maemo-admin23:49
peterleinchenas we other cannot reach that channel :(23:49
sixwheeledbeastupdating the firmware was locked due to excessive spam and excessive edits. IMO any future changes should be admin only via CC discussion.23:50
sixwheeledbeastwikiadmins are listed in the wiki there's a page for that.23:50
juicemesixwheeledbeast, hi!23:50
sixwheeledbeasthi all, sorry I can't hang about...23:50
peterleinchensixwheeledbeast, hi and thanks23:51
MentalistTraceurWhat was the "spam" and besides spam what constitutes bad "excessive edits"?23:51
MentalistTraceurIf you have to rush off, reply to that can wait.23:51
sixwheeledbeastit's top on search engines so is the first page to get hit with external link type spam.23:51
sixwheeledbeastmaybe back later.23:51
MentalistTraceurAh.23:51
sixwheeledbeasto/23:51
MentalistTraceuro/23:51
peterleinchensixwheeledbeast, I agree to you23:52
peterleinchenbut I ask council to get that edited and include at least the archive.org site ?23:53
juicemesixwheeledbeast, nite23:53
MentalistTraceurCan we get an email with a diff or something, describing the desired changes. Then we can forward that along to the techstaff people.23:55
MentalistTraceurOr just CC techstaff in the email.23:55
MentalistTraceurpeterleinchen: ^ Since I at least don't know what links there are nowadays.23:56
MentalistTraceurOr rather, I do because someone linked me to them just a month or two ago.23:56
MentalistTraceurBut I forgot it by bow.23:57
MentalistTraceurs/bow/now/23:57
