NotKitWizzup, did you build the packages by hand or there is something to automate this?22:31
*** sunshavi has quit IRC22:36
WizzupNotKit: I want to automate it, but it is not automated atm. So I'm going to re-do what I did before, in a devuan VM, and take full notes, and turn that into a shell script initially22:37
Wizzupand then when devuan amprolla works, we will piggy back on their CI22:37

freemangordonPali: ping22:54
Palifreemangordon: pong22:54
freemangordonPali: is it possible to use dkms to patch a driver in the current kernel?22:55
Paliwith dkms you can easily compile new kernel module22:55
freemangordonI am hit by a "inverted microphone" bug, and a quirk needs to be applied to the intel hda drver22:55
Paliin case driver for the current kernel is via module (and not compiled in vmlinuz image), then yes22:56
freemangordonbut, do i need to get the whole driver code?22:56
freemangordonor I can simply provide a .patch file in dkms package?22:57
freemangordonPali: ^^^ ?22:58
Paliyou need whole driver code22:58
Palidkms is just script which call make22:59
Paliand copy .ko files in /lib/modules/22:59
freemangordonok, thanks22:59
freemangordonPali: did you ever do such thing for ubuntu kernel? do I get it right - I have to apt-get source the kernel, then run debian/rules patch, copy the driver in question code as dkms module and patch it?23:04
Paliyes, I did it23:04
Palibut I just copied module source code directly from git.kernel.org23:04
freemangordonah23:04
Paliand then created dkms archive23:04
freemangordonbut it will be missing the patches from ubuntu23:05
freemangordonok, going to try my way23:05
PaliI just did it for one module23:05
freemangordonyes, one module is what I need, but nevertheless it has ubuntu patches23:05
*** eMHa has joined #maemo23:05
Palithen get ubuntu source code23:05
Paliand apply patches23:06
Paliand compile/create dkms23:06
Palishould work too23:06
Paliyou just need source files (and it does not matter from where you get them)23:06
WizzupNotKit: but are they build time deps?23:10
WizzupNotKit: ah, they are just translationsa23:12
freemangordonPali: seems patches in ubuntu kernal are already applied, at least there is no debian/patches directory23:13
freemangordon*kernel23:13
Palithat is possible23:13
NotKitWizzup, they are runtime deps of packages which are themselves build time deps23:13
Wizzupyeah, I just realised23:13
Paliand also now unpacking dsc package automatically apply all patches23:13
Paliso after dpkg-source -x you should have source directory with all patches ready23:14
freemangordonwell, I did apt-get source, but it should be the same23:16
WizzupNotKit: good stuff23:41
*** dafox has joined #maemo23:42
NotKitnote that there were some small issues during compiling which I didn't try to account for23:42
