DocScrutinizer05kerio: that's the point about bme stopping basically. Yes. on bme-replacement I dunno if and how you could stop charging with USB attached00:03
kerioecho "none" > /sys/class/power/whatever/mode00:03
keriobq24150_charger?00:04
DocScrutinizer05if the bme replacement kernel driver is designed according to my draft, it's as simple as "echo something >/sys/somewhere"00:04

Sicelodoes anyone (using replacement bme) know which one is the "actual" voltage of the battery between what is reported by : (1) /sys/class/power_supply/bq27200-0/voltage_now and (2) /sys/class/power_supply/bq27200-0/uevent. On my N900 the voltages from these two are different, so I'm not sure which one to use in connection with calibration (where I need to know when I hit 3248mV)14:39
Sicelook .. looking at /sys/class/power_supply/bq27200-0/registers (and 0x08) seems to suggest "voltage_now" is what i need to look at14:47

PaliDocScrutinizer05, stupid question... have you ever seen TI document named SWPU119B?15:53
Palior do you know somebody who has it? :P15:54
R0b0t1AHA THERE YOU ARE15:56
* R0b0t1 ties Pali to a chair15:56
R0b0t1Pali: I am completely incapable of finding any documentation on how to modify the kernel on an n900. You previously made a post about it, so could you explain what you did?15:56
R0b0t1I did what I thought would work and it didn't, so...15:56
R0b0t1also does that document have anything to do with TrustZone or what is it?15:57
Palisearch google and you will see what SWPU119B is :P15:57
*** Smily has quit IRC15:58
R0b0t1I did, it only vaguely mentioned "secure peripherals"15:59
Palihttp://linux-omap.vger.kernel.narkive.com/i3yjI3TD/patch-omap3-irq-add-some-missing-irqs-for-secure-peripherals16:01
R0b0t1yes I found that16:01
Palihere i found IRQ for omap34xx RNG (random number generator)16:01
R0b0t1aah16:01
PaliOMAP34xx Multimedia High Security Device Silicon Revision 3.0 Security Addendum Version B (SWPU119B)16:01
Paliand there is another irq in that patch: FPKA16:02
Paliwhat is FPKA?16:02
Paliok FPKA = Fast PKA16:04
Paliand what is PKA? Public Key Auth??16:04
R0b0t1well I doubt it's the acid disassociation constant16:05
R0b0t1so probably16:05
R0b0t1Pali: But if you could manage to send me what one does to modify the kernel on the n900 that would be grand, as I haven't even managed to make it crash on boot yet. I'll be getting stuff to access the broken out serial port mid-week, but that won't help me a great deal if I can't even load new stuff on it16:07
R0b0t1bbl, best of luck16:07
PaliR0b0t1: and what you want to do?16:08
Siceloand, R0b0t1, here are detailed instructions how to make serial adapter if you really need it .. http://elektranox.org/n900/serial-adapter.html16:09
Palihttp://elinux.org/N900#DT_Kernel_Compilation16:10
R0b0t1Pali: I got your kernel compiled but I can't find the steps to actually replace whatever is currently on the device16:11
R0b0t1Sicelo: I'm waiting on some pogo pins and a lasercut holder for them16:11
R0b0t1I'd rather not solder to the phone is all16:11
Paliyou need to copy modules into /lib/modules/<kernel_version>/16:11
Paliand then load zImage via flasher-3.5 or 0xFFFF16:12
R0b0t1Pali: And then I was going to backport your patches to one of the gentoo stabilized sources and install gentoo16:12
R0b0t1well see I did all that16:12
R0b0t1it didn't work(tm)16:12
Paliand after copying modules, you need to also run depmod16:12
Sicelothere's nothing soldered to phone in that link i gave, haha :D16:12
R0b0t1the issue isn't that it wouldn't boot, the issue is that I "successfully" flashed my new kernel and maemo still successfully booted16:13
R0b0t1to the 2.6 kernel16:13
Paliyou loaded it or flashed?16:13
R0b0t1flashed16:13
R0b0t1sorry16:13
Palivia 0xFFFF or flasher-3.516:14
R0b0t10xFFFF16:14
Palihm... strange16:14
Palitry again16:14
Palifirst try to load it and then boot16:14

Luke-JrPali: any reason not to enable ACL/xattr support in power kernel? also, would patches to support more recent [e]udev be accepted?17:07
PaliLuke-Jr: if it does not increase kernel zImage size (fit into mtd with uboot) and there are users who wont to see it... I do not have problems17:08
Palipatches for userspace udev?17:08
Paliif there are reasons for patching udev, it can be done via cssu17:09
Luke-Jrwell, the main one I am aware of is accept4 syscall support - apparently that's in 2.6.28, just not defined for ARM17:09
Luke-JrI'm not interested in CSSU udev, just being able to dual boot Gentoo and Maemo with the same kernel17:09
Luke-Jrand Gentoo has long since dropped 2.6.28-compatible udev versions17:10
Palisupport for accept4 can be ok17:12
Paliand with udev and gentoo... this should be fixed in gentoo... no idea how you want to fix  maemo17:12
Luke-JrI think besides accept4 the only other thing was some CONFIG_FHANDLE feature I haven't had time to look into yet17:13

infobotQuestions in the channel should be specific, informative, complete, concise, and on-topic.  Don't ask if you can ask a question first.  Don't ask if a person is there; just ask what you intended to ask them.  Better questions more frequently yield better answers.  We are all here voluntarily or against our will.19:52
