freemangordon_jonwil: we have a channel for that purpose :)14:11
freemangordon_lets use it, what we say may be of interest to somebody else, in theory ;)14:12
freemangordon_jonwil: now you have your n900 back in a working condition, what about continuing connui REing?14:12
jonwilSo what about this "fremantle-GTK2 project" mentioned by Android_808 on t.m.o?14:13
freemangordon_jonwil: this is what all talk on ##ftpf-private is about14:14
jonwilSo basically "fremantle-GTK2" is this Devuan derivative people are now calling Maemo7?14:15
freemangordon_jonwil: later on it evovled in what we named maemo-leste a couple of days ago14:15
freemangordon_yes14:15
jonwilOk.14:15
jonwilSounds like there isn't anything there that should be in CSSU then14:16
freemangordon_jonwil: keep in mind fremantle-gtk2 is now more the active repo, https://github.com/maemo-leste is the one we're going to use from now on14:17
freemangordon_jonwil: not really14:17
jonwilOk.14:17
freemangordon_so far I first put REed stuff in cssu repo14:17
jonwilWas it you who mentioned someone to talk to re CSSU-testing?14:17
freemangordon_yes14:17
freemangordon_merlin1991 and Ilew14:17
jonwilI got just about every package into CSSU-devel that should be there. vte and tracker gave me an error "Your intltool is too old.  You need intltool 0.35.0 or later" even though I have intltool 0.35.0-3 installed and so I couldn't put those in cssu-devel14:19
jonwilfeedservice-plugin-fb-common was giving some errors about makefile.ini being missing (so its either not generating makefile.in when it should be or there is some step I missed to compile it)14:20
jonwilsharing-service-facebook depends on feedservice-plugin-fb-common so I cant compile that14:20
freemangordon_yes, I read your TMO posr14:20
freemangordon_*post14:20
jonwilAny ideas on your end how to solve the errors for any of those packages?14:21
freemangordon_facebook stuff is doomed anyways (all maemo facebook application admins/devs had their facebook developer account blocked)14:21
jonwilSo basically the facebook API keys and other things used in the stock Maemo bits and in the RE'd clones are no longer functional?14:22
freemangordon_they are, but we can't certify with facebook14:22
jonwilOk so that covers those 2 packages. Any ideas about the other packages?14:23
freemangordon_because no functional user to perform that certification14:24
jonwilFor hildon-input-method-plugins we probably need a package similar in nature to libconnui-dev that installs various library bits in the SDK environment14:24
jonwilto allow that to compile easily14:25
freemangordon_jonwil: do you have CSSU repos enabled in ScratchBox you try to compile those?14:25
jonwilI do have cssu-devel enabled14:25
freemangordon_no idea then, maybe ./autogen.sh or autoreconf -v -f -i14:26
jonwilWait I have cssu-testing enabled, not cssu-devel14:27
freemangordon_should be ok14:27
freemangordon_you'd better not enable -devel repo14:27
freemangordon_did you perform apt-get upgrade?14:27
jonwilLet me check14:27
freemangordon_well, update/upgrade14:28
jonwilits installing a whole bunch of packages in my SDK VM14:29
jonwilupdates to stuff mostly14:29
freemangordon_makes sense14:29
freemangordon_if stuff == maemo cssu packages14:30
jonwilYes14:30
* freemangordon_ is afk14:30
jonwilOk.14:30
DocScrutinizer05I wish somebody had tried a single time to build a normal stock-alike maemo from scratch15:12
DocScrutinizer05don't know if everybody thinks that's too easy and boring, or just it's considered too complex15:16
DocScrutinizer05anyway in a few weeks we will have Neo900-devel board and I need developers to demonstrate maemo-proper on those, incl installing apps from maemo-extras repos15:20
DocScrutinizer05I guess I have to hire Carsten Munk for that, after all he did it like 8 years ago already15:22
DocScrutinizer05http://omappedia.org/wiki/Maemo_Getting_Started#Beagle15:23
sicelohe's with jolla?15:25
DocScrutinizer05according to his linkedin no more15:27
DocScrutinizer05unless he's a subcontractor to Jolla15:28
DocScrutinizer05or jolla changed name15:28
siceloalright15:28
DocScrutinizer05it's quite unfortunate how things moved from http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=91308 to new kernel (orphaning closed drivers ABI compatibility) to devuan to armhf (orphaning all existing apps binaries) - and still the Devuan key folks think they support Neo90015:32
bencohI don't think it's the proper channel to discuss that, though15:33
DocScrutinizer05oh?15:33
DocScrutinizer05yeah, indeed. maemo orphaned neo900, so I probably should ask on #neo900 if there's anybody willing to port maemo to that device15:34
bencohit's somewhat related, but still should go to #neo900 or #maemo :)15:34
siceloall of what is being done still supports N900 well enough, and probably Neo even better15:35
DocScrutinizer05aha15:35
siceloat least as far as i understand15:35
DocScrutinizer05that's exactly the problem15:35
DocScrutinizer05everybody incl jaromil thinks that15:37
DocScrutinizer05it's not true15:37
sicelo #neo900 then ... i don't want to be OT here :-)15:37
DocScrutinizer05sorry, I don't have any maemo devels there15:38
sicelo #maemo then, although i think this has been discussed there enough too15:39

freemangordon_DocScrutinizer05: supporting fremantle userspace, at least partially is a matter of setting up armel build aling armhf16:54

jonwilbah, I have no idea why connui-statusbar-cellular causes hildon-status-menu to crash "17:22
jonwiland I cant seem to get hildon-status-menu into GDB to debug it since it uses maemo-launcher or whatever it is17:23
freemangordon_just attach gdb to it17:28
freemangordon_there are 2 processes with same name, attach to the one with higher pid17:29
DocScrutinizer05jonwil: you need to either attach GDB after starting the process, or you need to "patch" maemo-launcher17:33
*** freemangordon_ has quit IRC17:34
DocScrutinizer05acme-app-xxx is a symlink to a launcher stub that sends a dbus msg to another maemo-launcher persistent process (daemon?) that forks to launce the real acme-app-xxx.launch binary. Or somesuch17:35
DocScrutinizer05actually e.g. "startup-pin-query -> maemo-invoker" and that one calls maemo-launcher (via dbus?)17:42
DocScrutinizer05so  maemo.invoker when caled with $0 startup-pin-query will tell maemo-laincher to execute (fork) /usr/bin/startup-pin-query.launch17:44
DocScrutinizer05you'd need to "wrap" /usr/bin/maemo-launcher so it runs under GDB - unless there is a smarter method17:46
DocScrutinizer05http://paste.opensuse.org/6021147617:48
jonwilMy short term goals are to 1.Continue to reverse engineer things (including getting connui-cellular working) 2.Providing info to the guys doing the devuan work where I can provide that info 3.Look into documenting the things connected to the wlan subsystem so we know what we need to do to replace it18:01
jonwilOooh good, it looks like I can stop hildon-status-menu from running without the system rebooting and then I can start it whenever I want manually18:11
jonwilOf course what happens is that when maemo-launcher gets told to start a new program it forks itself18:12
