eddybsorry for the localized unix00:00
eddyb-r--r--r-- 1 root root  2,0G iun  9 00:01 home_part.orig00:03
eddybthat should stop me from wrecking the original00:03
eddybo_O00:05
eddybPali: there's a lot of stuff in lost+found00:06
Palieddyb: this is what fsck found00:06
eddybit's like random directories00:07
Paliif you want paths for something maemo special, ask...00:07
eddybtoo bad they're listed by inode, kinda hard to figure where everything belongs00:07
*** arcean has quit IRC00:08
eddybPali: can I get the original from somewhere?00:09
eddybI'm tempted to write a script that matches partial trees from lost+found00:09
eddyboh dammit there's a lot of android stuff mixed in00:09
Palieddyb: not, because fsck was not able to get where was inode...00:09
eddybI mean original partition, vanilla00:10
DrathirPali: how about package "recorvery mode", also good to be installed ?00:11
eddybPali: at least I have a programming challenge :P00:12
Drathireddyb: android stuff?00:12
eddybfrom NITdroid00:12
eddybin /home00:13
PaliDrathir: it is bootmenu entry for classic linux console recovery mode00:13
merlin1991Pali: I've tested what freemangordon built and uploaded to the server, that worked which patch are you talking about?00:13
Palibut for this is needed kernel-power00:13
merlin1991and please again for me the problem/situation with osso-af-utils00:13
Palimerlin1991: yes, freemangordon builded upstart with my patches00:13
eddybam I right in thinking the fact that lost+found contains a lot of stuff, there's nothing left to fix, but look in lost+found?00:13
merlin1991it works on my device with sd inserted00:13
Drathireddyb: oh i see , can i ask about experience of using NIDroid?00:14
Palimerlin1991: more packages was updated to use /var/... instead calling getbootstate. one of these packages was dsme00:14
DrathirNITdroid*00:14
merlin1991but /var/... is generated?00:14
Paliand I think it is not good idea to update only one package which using that from /var/...00:14
eddybDrathir: I can't install chrome because it's gingerbread00:14
Paliyet that file in /var/.... is generated in /sbin/preinit00:15
eddybOMG00:15
Palis/yet/yes/00:15
infobotPali meant: yes that file in /var/.... is generated in /sbin/preinit00:15
eddybPali: I found /user/home00:15
eddyberr /home/user00:15
Palieddyb :-)00:15
merlin1991Pali: well when we talked about what goes into this cssu release nobody said anything of osso-af-utils and ke-recv :/00:16
merlin1991I've built this release based on that information00:16
eddybPali: although it's missing some things00:16
Palimerlin1991: I do not remember but problem with this CSSU-T update was that it was late and it contains a lot of patches and I forget what was included here...00:17
merlin1991true00:17
merlin1991the time between this and the last update, and the time it took me to get it together was quite a bit :/00:17
Paliand so maybe I forgot to tell you about ke-recv or osso-af-utils...00:17
Paliat least, now I have that script which print version of all packages in git, devel, testing and stable repos00:18
Paliso we can look what is missing in devel or testing00:18
Paliand not to forget something to push00:19
eddybPali: where's var/cache/apt/archives/*.deb placed?00:19
Pali~#maemo cssu-state is http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~pali/cssu-state.sh00:19
infobotPali: okay00:19
Palieddyb: in MyDocs/.apt... or in /opt somewhere...00:20
eddybderp00:20
eddybI think this is /opt00:20
eddybbut I'm not sure00:20
eddyb#9011300:21
Paliin MyDocs I have (or had) some .apt* dirs00:22
eddybit's not that00:22
merlin1991there are some cache dirs from apt-worker there afaik00:22
merlin1991ie. .apt-archive-cache00:22
eddybPali: I guess I'll grab a fresh partition, and try to combine those files with the few in lost+found00:24
merlin1991freemangordon: PR is out there, more or less00:24
merlin1991freemangordon: not like I'm the pr man, you have way more interaction with the community than me ;)00:25

eddybPali: there's something left in /home00:35
eddybalthough I'm not sure if it's some kind of skelly or left from before00:35
eddyb./user/.modest/cache/mail/imap/edy.burt__imap.gmail.com_993/00:37
eddybhah, that's still there00:37
eddybPali: I would just remove lost+found from the real partition, put vanilla stuff in, and see how it boots then00:40
eddybis that a good plan?00:40
Palino, your fs is really corrupted and I suggest you to do full reflash00:41
eddybhmm00:41
*** Martix has joined #maemo-ssu00:41
Paliin case you have working rootfs, full reflash is: flash vanilla and then flash combined image00:42
Palithis will erase and reformat everything in device00:42
Palialso MyDocs!00:42
*** dhbiker has quit IRC00:43
eddybwhat if I take the clean partition, loopback mount it, copy the few things I didn't lose from /home, fsck on my laptop, then dd that back in the device?00:43
eddybI'd rather not touch MyDocs :S00:43
DocScrutinizer05and keep a backup of any files in /home/user/* and /home/user/MyDocs/*00:43
DocScrutinizer05fsck yields poor results usually00:44
eddybI already have the entire /home partition. maybe I should write a script to backup everything in MyDocs but the biggest things (evopedia english wikipedia and kde4)00:44
Palieddyb: backup also MyDocs00:45
Paliand rather do full reflash, fsck not working ideally and correctly00:45
eddybI mean fsck on a simple file00:45
DocScrutinizer05you can access MyDocs via mass storage mode00:45
PaliDocScrutinizer05: he using my bootmenu which export full eMMC via mass storage (also /home) for backup00:45
eddyband I said that just to make sure it was perfectly clean when I put it back in00:46
DocScrutinizer05hah00:46
DocScrutinizer05even better00:46
eddybwouldn't bootmenu let me write a different /home partition?00:46
eddyblike a clean one+some of my files that I didn't lose?00:46
eddybI'd rather have that than nuke the entire phone.00:47
Drathirmy MyDocs after crash and readonly mode works but can crash in anytime :p better do full and dont loose your data...00:47
eddybwhat does MyDocs have to do with anything?00:47
eddybit's not like it's dirty now00:47
eddybI wouldn't mind replacing /home then doing a root reflash, but without MyDocs00:48
eddybwhat's in /home/opt that would be modified by cssu-thumb and/or any updates?00:49
eddybI've seen 5 different places where binaries and libraries can go in maemo, it's crazy :(00:49
merlin1991eddyb: when you flash rootfs an huge bunch of stuff goes to /opt00:52
Drathirarchlinux last update merge all /sbin /usr/sbin /bin to /usr/bin there only big was moved to bigger space...00:52
merlin1991basically on a flashed never booted device /opt is empty00:52
merlin1991then on first boot it moves stuff over00:52
eddybmerlin1991: so if I change /home then flash, it will ensure it's bootable?00:53
eddybwait, what's in /home before flashing?00:53
eddybwhat you say might make this easier, if I create a clean partition for /home then reflash00:54
Drathirmaybe now if nokia allow it should be possible to rearrange space for all directories in new modern way...00:54
eddybI do have to change /home before reflashing, because I need bootmenu for direct eMMC access. lovely system architecture00:54
merlin1991Drathir: the main problem is / is on a different physical space than /home00:55
merlin1991and since we need /usr for boot we can't seperate there00:55
merlin1991hence opt was born00:55
Drathirmerlin1991: but theoreticaly is possible to resize all default partitions if permissin was granted officially?00:56
eddybofficially?00:57
eddybyou could probably do it yourself00:57
eddybmerlin1991: but why is there a / and a /home partition?00:58
merlin1991eddyb / is on one physical flash device and /home and MyDocs are on the other device00:58
eddyboh, nvm00:58
eddybwhat's that for? speed?01:02
eddyband why couldn't more stuff be permanently mounted in /whatever on another partition?01:03
merlin1991who knows, ask nokia :D01:03
merlin1991well I guess their idea was to keep the essential system on the / device and only move user programs to /opt01:03
merlin1991you know the emergency call guidline, it just has to work in the worst conditions, even without /opt01:04
eddybis that sarcastic?01:04
eddybemergency call wouldn't work on my N900 with /home half-fucked01:05
merlin1991and it actually does, I had a device where the flash for /opt broke, it still booted and I could make calls, only without /opt (that flash also has swap on it) everything else was basically useless01:05
merlin1991but it does boot into maemo and you can use the caller without /home and /opt and no swap01:05
eddybcan you read the text?01:06
merlin1991hm?01:06
eddybtext on screen. is it readable?01:06
merlin1991themes are on /usr/share which is part of /01:06
merlin1991so yes01:06
merlin1991it looks okay, only when you start touching stuff shit goes south01:06
eddybthat sounds like it works better than mine01:06
merlin1991like open microb --> insufficient memory program "internet" has ben aborted was the most fun bit01:07
eddybI just remembered this, why does maemo shut down if I kill browser(d)?01:07
*** futpib has quit IRC01:07
merlin1991because browsered is goverend by dsme since it's boost started01:08
merlin1991and if you kill stuff that is under dsmes area it thinks the device is malfunctioning and reboots01:08
*** futpib has joined #maemo-ssu01:08
merlin1991makes not that much sense for the browser though01:08
eddybidea: instead of having everything in /home, move it to /user_partition or something like that and then mount /home, /opt, parts of /usr and whatever else you want. also, for crying out loud, decide on a sane directory layout, right now it's splattered01:08
eddybmerlin1991: oh dear that's smart01:08
*** XDS2010_ has joined #maemo-ssu01:09
merlin1991eddyb: well the bindmount of /home/opt to /opt has one advantage though01:09
merlin1991you don't run into problems where there is space in /home but none in /opt01:09
eddybit's not bad in theory, but it looks like a bad hack01:10
eddyb(the way it's implemented, that is)01:10
eddybI'm curious, what's in the original /home partition?01:10
Drathirfor me most missing thing is ultra lightweight browser like opera/ucweb java versions...01:10
kerioopera mobile is kinda like that01:11
merlin1991eddyb: afaik the pr 1.1.1 was just a resize of the MyDocs parition to make space for opt01:11
Drathirkerio: yea but is still too big and slow01:12
eddybbut is there anything in /home?01:12
eddybif I do the full reflash01:12
eddybI feel like I should just reformat to a clean partition via YaST and copy some of the config files in01:14
eddybthen do a simple root reflash01:14
Drathiri have compare and remember when i go from symbian to n900 yes opera mobile have more abilities but i missing for fast reading and search things on web... and compresion of content was also much more because data was rendered by server side...01:15
eddybhmm, is it possible the microb cache overflowed and I had no space left in /home?01:18
eddyband then a random reboot made the old fsck get to work and screw up01:19

peterparkI just reflashed my n900 with RX-51_2009SE_20.2010.36-2_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin and want to install CSSU/testing, however I tried it yesterday twice and always after invoking cssu-enabler and downloading approx. 43 MB the HAM installer said "installation package could not be found"16:20
peterparkcssu/stable is installed fine :(16:21
tadzikthere've been some problems recently with a broken cssu-testing install, maybe what you encounter is one of the hotfixes the cssu team implemented16:24
tadzikyou'd be better of waiting patiently for now, sorry for the inconvenience16:24
tadzikwell, if that sounded like I'm one the ones responsible, I'm not :)16:26
peterpark@tadzik: OK then I have to wait.16:35
