SpacedOutRaise a virtual hand to volunteer test modest/tinymail idle imap support.  Unlike the disabled idle support, modest is actually idle between server keep alives.  For me that's 4 system calls every 4.5 minutes.05:50
SpacedOutIt's a rather large patch, 48 change sets, 55 files changed, 1212 insertions, 814 deletions.  Are the tinymail/debian/rules and control file not supposed to be in git05:56

SpacedOutNo takers?  I guess I'll continue testing on my own, just as well, a was woken up at 4am after the previous build was eating up the cpu for a few hours since it was offline and it couldn't talk to the server, fixed but there may very well be others.06:42

MohammadAG DocScrutinizer no, I wonder if it breaks stuff like fcam17:25
DocScrutinizeryeah, we probably can't do this without replacing kernel, no?17:29
DocScrutinizerMohammadAG: how's livinh?17:30
DocScrutinizerliving*17:30
MohammadAGDocScrutinizer, yeah, I just wonder if it breaks the USB public API17:31
DocScrutinizerplease elaborate17:31
MohammadAGstill on holidays, same as my n950, still a new order :P17:31
DocScrutinizern950 new order sounds concerning17:32

DocScrutinizerGRRRRRRR settings->FMTX  -->portrait mode. I HATE it >:-(17:55
DocScrutinizerlock/unlock screen makes it turn to landscape18:00
DocScrutinizersame for frequency selector18:01
DocScrutinizereach time you click on freq button, the menu/requester comes up in portrait again, from a landscape (settings->)FMTX requester. lock+unlock and it turns to landscape. close and open again and it's in portrait again18:02
DocScrutinizermega annoying18:02
DocScrutinizeractually it's the same with "About CSSU"18:03
MohammadAGDocScrutinizer, h-d bug18:04
DocScrutinizerand when you close the display "About CSSU" without forcing it back to landscape, even the settings-dialog is in portrait then18:04
DocScrutinizerhonestly it makes me want to throw the N900 at the wall18:05
*** psycho_oreos has quit IRC18:09
DocScrutinizerwhat means "h-d bug"? This behaviour is unknown from pre-CSSU times, when only MHD was installed18:10
DocScrutinizerso obviously sth got introduced into CSSU that assumes a property of some other part of the system that is not given, and so this is a CSSU bug after all18:12
*** jonwil has quit IRC18:14
DocScrutinizerwhen my electrician installs a 2kW heater in my bathroom and switching it on makes the 6A fuse in the distribution box blow, then that's not a bug of the distribution box. Sorry got no better example18:15
* DocScrutinizer would honestly prefer to kick out friggin portrait support from CSSU all together, on this particular device. It introduces lots of annoyances and zero additional usability18:18
MohammadAGDocScrutinizer, actually it was known, to me at least18:18
MohammadAGpre CSSU and pre MHD18:18
DocScrutinizernever happened here prior to CSSU installation18:19
DocScrutinizereven worse if we knew about it and didn't bother to fix it with CSSU18:20
*** m0use has quit IRC18:20
DocScrutinizerand I'm pretty damn sure about that - it was NOT there prior to CSSU18:21
DocScrutinizermaybe h-d had no support for proper portrait mode reporting ever since, but it didn't need it cause there was no portrait mode other than in microB maybe18:23
DocScrutinizerbut you can't implement portait mode and rely on such a nonexistent feature of h-d and then attribute it a "bug in h-d"18:23
DocScrutinizerit must get fixed. There's definitely no good in CSSU going "we offer a new feature C, it comes with new bugs W. X and Y"18:27
DocScrutinizerCSSU won't be perceived as any kind of improvement over stock maemo this way18:29
DocScrutinizernumber of fixed issues always has to be > number of newly introduced issues18:30
DocScrutinizeractually ideally number of newly introduced issues should regularly be zero, each time it isn't is a really embarrassing day18:31
DocScrutinizeras it means the developer who checked in that broken package was lazy and sloppy enough to either not notice, or worse not to care at all about those regressions18:34
DocScrutinizerthis ruins confidence in CSSU being a good thing18:35
DocScrutinizer"I don't need it so I don't bother" is a bad notion for a COMMUNITY repo18:36

trumeeAre there any plans of incorporating offline imap patch in CSSU? http://mat.exon.name/modest/21:31
SpacedOutThe offline imap patch has already been merged into the cssu tinymail/modest repository.21:34
trumeeSpacedOut: ah, thanks21:36
SpacedOutHave you tried it?21:36
trumeeSpacedOut: i used Nokia Messaging so maybe that is the reason i didnt see it21:36
trumeeSpacedOut: No, i havent used the patch seperately as such.21:37
SpacedOutI tried the patch out yesterday.  It works.21:38
trumeeSpacedOut: ok, i dont see the option 'mcenfladvsetupofflinesync' on my device21:40
trumeeSpacedOut: running cssu21:40
trumeeSpacedOut: although i do see 'mcefioptionstreeview' in the settings tab21:41
SpacedOutThe source has been merged, but I don't think any of the packages have been released that include it.  I just compiled it myself.21:41
trumeeSpacedOut: that explains it.21:42
trumeeSpacedOut: any ideas what does mcefioptionstreeview do?21:46
SpacedOutOption Tree View, it gives a tree of account/mailbox in the top level window.21:47
trumeeSpacedOut: ah, crap. enabling that killed modest21:50
SpacedOutIt should have come right back.21:50
trumeeSpacedOut: modest is not even starting now21:50
SpacedOutThat part's not good.  Check and see if it's running.21:51
trumeeSpacedOut:21:51
trumeemodest: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/modest.launch: undefined symbol:21:51
trumeetny_gtk_folder_store_tree_model_set_path_separator21:51

trumeeSpacedOut: is there any settings text file which i can edit to revert back since gui is not coming back21:52
SpacedOutIf you do a package manager update is there a newer version?21:53
SpacedOutThere is the configuration is in gconf.  I would have to look it up myself.21:53
SpacedOutWhat's the version number for modest?21:53
trumeeSpacedOut: i am doing an apt-get update21:54
trumeeSpacedOut: apt-cache showpkg modest ?21:56
SpacedOutdpkg -l modest21:57
trumeeSpacedOut: 3.90.7-821:57
SpacedOutThat's right, but your tinymail must be out of date.21:58
SpacedOutdpkg -l libtinymail-1.0-021:59
trumeeSpacedOut: 1.1.92+0m521:59
SpacedOutshould be 1.1.92+1cssu122:00
trumeeSpacedOut: ok upgraded libtinymail to 1.1.92+1cssu1 now22:02
trumeeSpacedOut: crap, modest is still not coming up. do i need to reboot?22:03
SpacedOutThere are 5 or 6 tinymail packages that need updated together.22:03
trumeeSpacedOut: did an apt-get -s upgrade, http://www.pastie.org/222790622:05
trumeeSpacedOut:22:06
trumeelibtinymail-camel-1.0-022:06
trumee  libtinymail-gnomevfs-1.0-0 libtinymail-maemo-1.0-0 libtinymailui-1.0-0 libtinymailui-gtk-1.0-022:06
trumeeSpacedOut: i guess the above pkgs need to be upgraded?22:06
SpacedOutYes, they all compile together.22:06
trumeeSpacedOut: finally got it.22:10
