| Oksana | Still cannot figure out what mid3v2 is. I use Mussorgsky currently, to specify Artist and Album, and cover art, but... It's not enough. First, there is also Genre (would be very useful to be able to edit it, since Media Player has Albums/Playlists/Genres views, and Playlists is not that useful) | 02:53 |
| Oksana | Second, Mussorgsky depends on python-mutagen for tags editing. And while theoretically it should work nice for ID3V2 tags, I would prefer something that is used by tracker to read id3v2 tags - and it's not easy to see what tracker uses, because tracker doesn't seem to have a nice and clear system of | 03:11 |
| Oksana | id3v2 and id3-tools started working, after using slightly different version of library (-13 is better than -15) | 07:50 |
|---|---|---|
| Oksana | But, they do not like not-ASCII values of ID3V2 tags | 07:50 |
| Sicelo | Vajb: i didn't get it too. i use mid3v2 for writing tags | 01:45 |
|---|
| Sicelo | Oksana: i use mid3v2 for tag editing on the N900. i don't remember why i stopped using mussorgsky | 11:08 |
|---|
| Sicelo | if you insist on tags, at least for MP3 there is mid3v2 available and working on N900 | 14:28 |
|---|---|---|
| Oksanaa | mid3v2 ? I cannot seem to find it in repositories | 14:40 |
| Sicelo | hmm, looks like it properly supports the ID3v2 standard, including the ability to specify genre as a string, instead of numeric value | 18:28 |
|---|---|---|
| Sicelo | looks like that one doesn't actually change the tag? i use mid3v2 for that on N900 | 20:00 |
| Sicelo | ok KotCzarny. i do have some "proper" filenames/paths, but for my use, tagging works much better. luckily, most software allows changing tag on multiple files at once as well .. i only use mid3v2 on N900 for that random file which i occasionally download/receive from friends | 20:24 |
| japa-fi | FYI: Yesterday mentioned troubles with the media player, not properly showing id3v2 tags. I got some links to different maomo forum discussions over the matter. One of them gave me an idea and it seemed to work. Problem occured when I had updated tags in already properly indexed .mp3 files after which all went to crap. As solution I tried stripping all id3v2 tags after which created everything from scratch. Worked on my case. | 13:38 |
|---|
| japa-fi | Darn.. Any ideas for workaround: I have 52 .mp3 files with ID3v2 tags, yet my N900 only found tags for 3 of them.. | 21:41 |
|---|---|---|
| japa-fi | Anyone know if there is something N900 don't like in id3v2 tags and should be avoided? | 21:42 |
| japa-fi | Is there some known bugs in N900 media player's mp3 tag support? I have some MP3s on the N900 and some of them are listed as unknown artist, though I can see there are id3v2 tags | 18:11 |
|---|---|---|
| japa-fi | DocScrutinizer05, I've edited the tags with "id3v2" | 18:30 |
| asj_ | I would really like a good id3v2 editor for n900, the existing one is good for artwork, sucky for tags, I command someone! fix it! ;) | 15:21 |

| el_zilcho | Is anyone else having an issue of media player not recognizing artist/title/album tracks for at least half of your music collection? wondering if maybe its only supporting id3 and not id3v2 or something to that extent | 23:06 |
