dotcommahey, can someone help me with my n900?05:45
dotcommait only boots in r&d mode05:45
dotcommadespite after being reflashed twice05:46
dotcommabooting in normal mode would end up in five dots for 10 secs then reboot05:47

Maxdamantusdotcomma: I suspect it's not meant to be disabled by just reflashing. You probably have to use `--disable-rd-mode`.08:03
Maxdamantusdotcomma: ie, run `flasher_3.5 --disable-rd-mode` and plug in the N900 while it's off.08:04
MaxdamantusOh, nvm, misunderstood the problem.08:05
MaxdamantusSo that behaviour probably means the watchdog is rebooting the device.08:06

sixwheeledbeast~bootloop09:54
infobotextra, extra, read all about it, bootloop is when your device has broken rootfilesystem, so during reboot it fails on some service startup or kernel module load and thus reboots. This *drains* battery! And you can't reflash to stop bootloop when battery is drained. Recharge your battery by other means before reflashing. E.g. using ~rescueOS. Or external charger or BL-5J compatible other device.09:54
sixwheeledbeastis flashing definitely completed?09:55
KotCzarny~flatbat09:57
KotCzarny~flatbatt09:57
KotCzarny~flatbatrecover09:58
infobotRemove battery for 1 minute. Insert battery. Plug powered ***NOKIA WALLCHARGER*** to device. Watch steady amber. Let sit and charge. Do NOT try to boot. After 30 min, you got either a) a booted up N900, b) flashing amber which means you can boot, c) steady amber shut off -> start over again with ~flatbatrecover while already searching for a new battery. CAVEAT! Only works when ~rootfs OK (no ~bootloop)09:58
KotCzarnyalso might come handy09:58

dotcommasixwheeledbeast:flashing completed just fine and normally, but the phone still bootlooped11:19
sixwheeledbeastsee above maybe flat battery? what makes you think rdmode is on?11:20
dotcommaabout batteries,I have 3 and have all charged them via a Lumia 52011:20
dotcommaI enabled rd mode after looking up threads on the forum11:22
sixwheeledbeastare you flashing both the emmc and the rootfs?11:22
dotcommayes11:23
dotcommai got the phone in that state so i guess it's a hardware problem then11:23
KotCzarnydefine 'bootloop'11:24
KotCzarnythere are few different kinds11:24
KotCzarnyhow far does it boot?11:24
sixwheeledbeastmaybe but I would assume there is something else11:24
KotCzarnyno 5dots, 5dots, desktop11:24
MaxdamantusSo just to be clear, it basically works fine as long as R&D mode is enabled?11:24
sixwheeledbeastespecially if you get to five dots11:24
dotcomma5 dots moving for 10 seconds,then froze and reboot11:24
MaxdamantusSeems fairly feasible to me that for whatever reason, the watchdog is triggering a reboot.11:25
KotCzarnyonce i had a 'bootloop' because because /home/user wasnt accessible11:25
MaxdamantusSince afaik that's normally disabled in R&D mode.11:25
dotcommait works just fine minus charging and battery indicator11:25
dotcommain r&d11:25
MaxdamantusMm. I think one of the two watchdogs has to do with charging.11:26
sixwheeledbeastalso if batteries are tired when the modem starts you have a lot more load.11:26
sixwheeledbeast~bootreason11:27
infobot[bootreason] cat /proc/bootreason also see https://wiki.maemo.org/Troubleshooting_boot_issues#Reporting_reboot_issues for details11:27
sixwheeledbeastthat would show if watchdog?11:27
dotcommathe phone's reporting 1 bar and 1/1mAh too which makes me think it's hardware11:28
KotCzarnymaybe bad batteries/contacts?11:28
dotcommathey all work on the 520 and are all Nokia new old stock so nah11:29
KotCzarnybattery contacts in phone?11:29
KotCzarnyyou can get battery info in terminal11:30
sixwheeledbeasteven if they work it's load at boot that hasn't been ruled out11:30
KotCzarnywouldnt be half bad if you pastebin'ed it11:30
KotCzarnythere is a possibility that charging circuit is fried too11:30

KotCzarny~listkeys bq2711:33
infobotFactoid search of 'bq27' by key (5): calibratebq27200 #DEL# ;; bq27200 ;; bq27 ;; bq27k-detail ;; bq27k-calibration.11:33
Maxdamantusdotcomma: might be worth showing your kernel messages (`dmesg`) after booting in R&D mode, since that's easy to obtain.11:34
Maxdamantus(reading /proc/bootreason would probably require modifying some init scripts to log it, or loading a rescue system on reboot)11:34
KotCzarny~bq2711:34
infobotrumour has it, bq27 is http://maemo.cloud-7.de/maemo5/usr/local/sbin/ bq27*, or http://maemo.cloud-7.de/maemo5/patches_n_tools/11:34
KotCzarny~bq2720011:35
infobotfrom memory, bq27k-detail is http://maemo.cloud-7.de/maemo5/usr/local/sbin/bq27k-detail2, or ~bq2711:35
KotCzarnyhttp://maemo.cloud-7.de/maemo5/usr/local/sbin/bq27200.sh11:35

infobotokay, KotCzarny11:36
KotCzarny~bq2711:36
infoboti guess bq27 is http://maemo.cloud-7.de/maemo5/usr/local/sbin/ bq27*, or http://maemo.cloud-7.de/maemo5/patches_n_tools/, or http://wiki.maemo.org/N900_Hardware_Charge_Meter11:37
sicelo why not write it in full ... i think we are more like toly to search bq27200 than bq2711:37
siceloat least i wouldn't search bq27 alone11:37
KotCzarnyfeel free to fix that, i was having trouble remembering which controller model it was11:38
KotCzarny:)11:38
KotCzarnyalso, seems those might be compatible with any bq27x00 controller11:41
dotcommamonitoring with lshal -m gave me charging status=error, probably there's my issue since RD mode should still have working charging and indicator right?11:42
KotCzarnylshall probably uses dbus approximation11:42
KotCzarnybq script will inquire battery controller directly11:42
KotCzarnyand when you switch batteries capacity is 100% wrong, because it wasnt calibrated11:43
*** florian_kc has joined #maemo11:45
KotCzarnyrd mode probably just disables watchdog, it doesnt prevent charging11:46
KotCzarnyi bet that something is wrong with battery controller in your n90011:47
dotcommahttps://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1181666&postcount=130 this completely fits what I have11:55
dotcommaprobably previous owner used a dodgy charger and fried the sense circuit11:55
KotCzarnyyup, part of the battery controller fried11:56
dotcommaI'll try finding a broken touch/lock code n900 around my area then probably11:58
KotCzarnythere is a plenty with broken usb11:58
KotCzarnyalthough that doesnt help if you cant solder tiny part11:58
KotCzarnybroken lcd might be also a good one to swap11:59
KotCzarnybecause it's easiest to just swap whole display part11:59
KotCzarnyor you can hack around and maybe you can get it to charge11:59
dotcommaI got this for free from a phone shop saying "what do you know it's another untested but turns out to be dead n900"12:00
KotCzarnyseeing the guy in that thread managed to do it with restarting bmi12:00
KotCzarnyfree is always nice12:00
KotCzarny:)12:00
dotcommavoltages do go up when i check so it works for the time being I guess12:00
KotCzarnycheck that battery script i've pasted earlier12:01
dotcomman900s with toast baseband/bootloop are more common than working ones somehow12:02
dotcommawell it's Vietnam,what did you expect12:02
KotCzarnythat's because modem chip gets desoldered from heavy presses on keyboard12:03
KotCzarnyif you can reflow it, it will go back to life12:03
dotcommasounds like the iPhone 4 to me,lol12:04
KotCzarny:)12:04
dotcommaI just heard sad news,my local phone shop threw a N9 screen instead of a dead Lumia 800 screen on accident,whoops12:06
*** peetah has quit IRC12:06
KotCzarnyarent those the same?12:06
dotcommathe screens for the N9 are starting to get harder to find it seems12:06
KotCzarnyi thought they only differ in software12:06
dotcommatechnically,yes12:07
dotcommathe 800 have the extra display space blocked by the printed keys12:07
dotcommaon the glass12:07
dotcommaand no front camera cutout12:08
