brolin_empeyIs there a term in English for the children of my cousins?14:02
*** florian has quit IRC14:25
sixwheeledbeastI am thinking second cousins? Probably officially something like first cousins once removed14:27
brolin_empeyWhat does it mean for something to be official in English?14:33
dreamer3214:34
brolin_empeyI mean because I thought that no central authority exists for the English language, unlike some other languages.14:35
sixwheeledbeastI say official as in how a genealogist would say not informally14:36
sixwheeledbeastthe remove part refers to how many generations away they are14:36
ginggshttps://www.livescience.com/32121-whats-a-second-cousin-vs-a-first-cousin-once-removed.html14:36
ginggsThe degree of cousinhood ("first," "second," etc.) denotes the number of generations between two cousins and their nearest common ancestor.14:37
sixwheeledbeastso children of children of cousin == twice removed for example14:37
ginggsThe term "removed" refers to the number of generations separating the cousins themselves.14:37
ginggssixwheeledbeast: sounds about right14:37
sixwheeledbeast:nod: but i doubt you would speak about your cousins as "removed" in conversation is my point14:38
ginggsi do :)14:43
DocScrutinizer05lol14:43
* DocScrutinizer05 removes ginggs14:44
DocScrutinizer05cccamp2019 anybody?14:45

brolin_empeyIs there an interactive calculator program for GNU+Linux inclusive-or GNU+Windows NT that has persistent history between sessions like Mathdroid for Android?  With Mathdroid, even if you power off the computer. the next time the application runs, the application still has the history from previous sessions without having to do anything special.  Does matlab, maple, or some other program I have not used have this feature?19:07
bencohapcalc (commandline)19:11
* brolin_empey will look up apcalc.19:12
bencoh(apcalp is the debian package name, real name is calc)19:13

brolin_empeyI found the official Web site of this program at http://www.isthe.com/chongo/tech/comp/calc/calc-whatis.html , need to check if the Cygwin distribution includes this program.19:39
*** Pali has joined #maemo19:43
brolin_empeyI do not see this program when searching https://cygwin.com/packages/package_list.html for “calc”. :-/19:44
sixwheeledbeasttheres online ones that save session via cookies19:53
sixwheeledbeastalso there is the generic band aid option of a spreadsheet19:56
brolin_empeyI installed this program from the package in Debian GNU+Linux 7.0 (wheezy).  It looks like I did not sufficently specify what I want the program to do.  This program does appear to have persistence between sessions for the user input but what I want and what Mathdroid for Android does is have persistence for the whole session, including both the user input *and* the output.  If you have Android, even only version 2.3 , try Mathdroid to see what I mean.19:58
brolin_empey“generic band aid” is a strange phrase because Band-Aid is specific brand of bandage.  The generic term is bandage.20:02
brolin_empeys/is specific/is a specific/20:02
brolin_empeyApparently infobot is missing again.20:03

ontimeSpeedCrunch has persistent history20:06
brolin_empeyBasically, with Mathdroid, even if you power off the computer, the next time you run Mathdroid, the screen is the same as the last time the program ran, automatically without having to do anything special.20:07
ontimesame on that, from time to time I use it on N90020:08

brolin_empeyOK, I will look up SpeedCrunch.20:14
brolin_empeyhttps://speedcrunch.org/download.html seems to assume that all GNU+Linux users use x86 because I am assuming that “linux32” and “linux64” mean x86-32 and x86-64 architectures, respectively?20:26
brolin_empey---------------------------20:33
brolin_empeyspeedcrunch.exe - Application Error20:33
brolin_empey---------------------------20:33
brolin_empeyThe application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application.20:33
brolin_empey---------------------------20:33
brolin_empeyOK20:33
brolin_empey---------------------------20:34
brolin_empeyI need to look up 0xc0000022 in ntstatus.h .20:34
brolin_empey#define STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED             ((NTSTATUS)0xC0000022L)20:40
brolin_empeyLooks like a file system (NTFS) permission problem from using unzip in Cygwin instead of a native Windows program to extract the archive file I downloaded.20:40
brolin_empeyYes, I can ShellExecute(Ex) the same file after deleting the directory created by Cygwin unzip and using a native Windows version of 7-Zip to extract the archive file.20:44
brolin_empeyontime: SpeedCrunch on Windows appears to do what I want, at least if SpeedCrunch is cleanly exited.  I wonder if SpeedCrunch updates the session on disk as soon as it processes new user input or only when it exits.  I wonder what happens if the power to my computer is interrupted when the session in SpeedCrunch has changed since SpeedCrunch started.20:53
brolin_empeyIn SpeedCrunch, 4.18+2.61 returns 6.79 instead of 6.789999999999999 like in CPython 2.7 without rounding.21:04
brolin_empeyI mean that CPython 2.7 without rounding returns 6.789999999999999 .21:06
