nidOits probably technically an improved design. I dont know exactly how the sprung connectors on a lot of the n900's jacks etc are designed, but a sprung connector should allow mistreatment better than a solder as itll be resistant to shocks and force against the connector01:10
*** Klowner has joined #maemo01:10
*** dmj726_n900 has joined #maemo01:11
nidOsome people have had problem with the device's phone speaker because of the sprung connector coming loose so the design might just be not as good as it should be, but dropping a phone full of soldered points = chance of them breaking off, and a soldered headphone jack will snap clean away if you jam a plug in too hard01:11
nidOwhereas a sprung connector should be able to take a bit of abuse01:11
SpeedEvilplus - if you break the spring connector - it's a $2 part, not a $20001:12

DocScrutinizerC-S-B: still both issues might have a common cause. SpeedEvil mentioned the fm-tx antenna also is pring-contact (though I'm not sure about that). Anyway a spring contact obviously has to be clean to work properly. If they ghad some incident in fab causing poor cleaning of PCB after SMT reflow soldering, or whatever, or if PCB manufacturer was trying savings on the gold plating of the contact pads, you easily might see all sorts of random02:27

simulanjsf_, that is the lsb folks recommendations too... to have a shell script call your actual app and move the libs to /opt/foo/lib05:37
njsf_are the libs specific to your app ?05:38
DocScrutinizernjsf_: that doesn't mean the app could reference the libs via /home/opt05:38
njsf_if not maybe it is better to have another package for the libs and put that package as dependency05:38
DocScrutinizeryou still need a symlink from correct location to actual location05:38
simulanjsf_, my app depends on Qt 4.6 and i'm trying to figure how to get those libs into most debian distros a couple years early :)  i shouldn't have to worry about that with maemo though05:39

RST38hShadowJK: Updating clock display once a second11:38
Corsaclike the google-album-art-downloader11:39
ShadowJK:)11:39
Corsacthere's a dbus service but I'm not sure who's supposed to run it11:39
RST38hShadowJK: changed to 60secs, the side effect of this will be the clock being off by 30sec on the average11:39
RST38hShadowJK: I hope this will not be such a big deal though :)11:39
CorsacRST38h: what you can do is to go by the second until the first minute change and then switch to 60s interval11:40
ShadowJKWell you could set a wakeup for next time()%60 or something :)11:40
Corsac(though it might not be that useful in the end)11:40
SpeedEvilPersonally, I'd find it slightly handy11:40
