FatPhilANyone looked at ondemand-avoid.diff recently. I know it's marked as 'N' for CSSU inclusion, but the reason is only marked as it breaking powertop. Hopefully we can fix powertop issues...01:45
*** peetah has joined #maemo-ssu01:47
FatPhilnope, I don't like that patch at all. Someone remind me to revisit it...01:58

DocScrutinizer05no surprise :-)03:21
DocScrutinizer05and I still wonder if your powertop is our powertop03:22
*** DrCode has joined #maemo-ssu03:22
DocScrutinizer05does it look like this? ->http://privatepaste.com/1181481a4303:24
DocScrutinizer05what breaks is the "Frequency" col, just on top, which can't handle the increased number of freq steps03:25
DocScrutinizer05and thus freaks out03:25

FatPhilfreemangordon: I'm applying all the patches in turn and examining them one at a time.09:55
FatPhilThey seem to be specific to kernel-power, not been seen anywhere else according to google.09:56
freemangordonsome of them are backported09:56
freemangordonnot sure if it is clear though09:56

ShadowJKext4 stuff is largely backports from a kernel with less buggy ext418:29
freemangordonmerlin1991: when you'll have time for a new update?18:31
merlin1991starting monday next week18:31
freemangordongood18:31
ShadowJKSome of the battery stuff would've been created first for 2.6.28-maemo, with special userspace considerations, and later attempts at forward-porting and mainlining were done18:31
freemangordonmerlin1991: saw https://gitorious.org/community-ssu/maemo-security-certman/commit/2cbd96e89d7529e1ce25801824fb76f39b05b836 ?18:32
merlin1991nope, but that sounds interesting18:32
freemangordonsomehow, somebody screwed it18:33
merlin1991and that really brings back supl.nokia.com ?18:33
freemangordonmerlin1991: yep18:33
merlin1991nice18:33
freemangordonmerlin1991: do you see that there is no change in signatures file?18:34
freemangordonit is the same shit in PR1.3.1 afaik18:35
freemangordonmerlin1991: BTW, feel free to test it :P18:37
freemangordonit is in cssu-devel ;)18:37
merlin1991heh, no idea how to test supl.nokia.com if it really works18:37
freemangordonusing syslog18:38

freemangordonthis is when it works, if not verify_res == 1918:39
freemangordonyou need to killall location-proxy(or reboot) after maemosec-common-ca is upgraded18:40

FatPhilfreemangordon - found a very nasty bug in one of the kernel-power patches (alas my laptop went flat on the boat, so I can't tell you which one until I get some juice into the battery)20:28
FatPhilfortunately there's a trivial replacement that does the intended job20:36
*** FReaper is now known as FlameReaper20:36
DocScrutinizer05FatPhil: that is not exactly a surprise to me. Most of our patches in KP lack proper peer review20:42
FatPhiljoiku need a fucking slapping20:45
FatPhilIn Harmattan we rejected their module about 7 times, until big big big bad boos came down to our wing and just said "you are integrating that, as is".20:46
DocScrutinizer05LOL20:47
DocScrutinizer05oooh, maybe you know to tell a few stories about kernel support for USB OTG in harmattan?20:48
FatPhilWe planned it, but scrapped it quite eaerly, not sure why20:50
FatPhilmusb is a buggy pile of shite from h/w perspective20:50
DocScrutinizer05I suspect somebody from platsec came over and told you "this can't get integrated into harmattan, it has security issues"20:50
DocScrutinizer05don't tell me about musb-hdrc. I know that pile of sh*20:51
DocScrutinizer05had my fair share of messing around with it, for h-e-n/hostmode20:51
DocScrutinizer05ate an estimated 12 person-months of work to get stuff analyzed and sorted20:52
FatPhilSecurity team was the biggest offender when it came to the BIIIIIG bad boss coming down to us and staying *YOU WILL INTEGRATE THIS*20:53
DocScrutinizer05it would be quite unfortunate if you based your decision to scrap it on a cursory look at h-e-n kernel patches done to fix/work-around N900 hw fsckup20:54
FatPhilKernel boot time quota was 2s, when we started the project it was 4s. My final significant contribution to the kernel was the thing that got the measured boot time down to 0.95s. Then security team comes along and bloats it to 7 fucking seconds!20:54
DocScrutinizer05lol, why I'm not surprised to hear that?20:55
FatPhilThe strange thing is that our USB team was pretty strong. Felipe Balbi was immediately employed by TI after the burning platforms, as he is MUSB god.20:55
DocScrutinizer05maybe I should've contacted him about hostmode in N900 as well as N9 then20:56
FatPhilthere's a linux-usb mailing list, of course20:56
DocScrutinizer05i'd get flamed to death there, coming up with what we did to musb-core on N900 ;-P20:57
*** Vlad_on_the_road has joined #maemo-ssu20:59
FatPhilNot necessarily. If you come in all guns blazing, you're in trouble, of course.20:59
DocScrutinizer05anyway, meeting time at #maemo-meeting21:00
kerioFatPhil: why didn't you integrate the joiku module in a way that it caused constant problems?21:09
FatPhilnot sure if I can parse that question21:12
FatPhilwe were maintainers at that time, it wasn't our job to rewrite other team's patches21:13
FatPhilit was our job to reject them repeatedly ;-p21:13
*** sunny_s has quit IRC21:14
Sicelowhat was the 'big boos' interest in joiku?  why would he/they insist this way?21:15
FatPhiltethering was a feature they needed commercially. The userspace needed that kernel module. Joiku refused to clean it up. After many many many many weeks, connectivity team were getting a bit annoyed to say the least. Bubbled up to management, then to higher management, then to even higher management21:17
Sicelohmm, sux21:19

DocScrutinizer05yoghurt-sploit is a poorly guided approach to implement some tethering in symbian et al, that copycats some functionality genuinely being a part of any decent linux distro. Porting that botch to linux is as reasonable as porting cygwin to unix22:56
*** arcean has quit IRC23:00
DocScrutinizer05well, similar cruft been done e.g. for that cups-based amiga printer driver that got ported to linux and actually was pretty unclear what are the advantages over genuine cups23:00
DocScrutinizer05except of course for the company selling it. The advantage been pretty clear for them23:01
