DataGhostso I was just in #maemo22:23
DataGhostc/p: I'm having this weird issue which I've pinned down to python-qt apps (normal Qt apps work fine) but I can't really seem to find the cause... alarmed and syncevolution-frontend (both python-qt apps) don't really show any control outlines, backgrounds etc, just the text (for input boxes this turns out to be black on black). If I run the apps as root, they work fine. I did an strace on22:23
DataGhostalarmed and it showed that user was trying to connect() to /tmp/sapwood-:0.0, which failed with ECONNREFUSED, and root successfully connect()ed to /var/tmp/sapwood-:0.0, which are both not on the filesystem, by the way.22:23
DataGhostit's also broken for the 'developer' user and for 'testuser' which I just created with adduser -m testuser, reboots don't fix the problem22:24
freemangordonDataGhost: under what account runs sapwood-server?22:25
DataGhostand I'd rather not reflash :) so for now it seems (to me) to be a problem in something which is not my user-profile but some permission thing but I have no idea where to look for it22:25
DataGhostit's running as 'user'22:25
freemangordonis it under user or root?22:25
freemangordonok22:26
freemangordonDataGhost: maybe you should look in /proc/`pidof sapwood-server`22:28
freemangordonfor some idea22:29
DataGhostif I "su user" as root (as opposed to "su - user") and then run it, it still doesn't work so it's probably not in the environment. I'll check out /proc now but I'm not really sure what I should be looking for22:29
freemangordonneither am I22:30
*** MrPingu has quit IRC22:31
*** MrPingu has joined #maemo-ssu22:32
DataGhostok. somewhat expectable. I have fd 0 1 and 2 to pipes and /dev/console, then fd 3 and 4 are sockets. if I start alarmed as root, I get an fd 5 (socket), which disappears when I close it again. if I start alarmed as user, that socket does not appear22:32
*** Adeon\SIGSEGV is now known as Adeon22:33
freemangordonDataGhost: do you have bb-power installed?22:34
keriofreemangordon: anyway, it appears that EDS works22:34
DataGhost"dpkg -l | grep bb-" shows nothing, so I guess not. do you know if sapwood-server outputs anything? maybe I can get stdout/stderr somewhere22:35
kerioDataGhost: busybox-power22:35
DataGhostnope, I don't have it22:36
keriohere in #maemo-ssu we try to use as few internets as possible22:36
kerioso the tubes don't get clogged22:36
DataGhosthm. if I strace -p `pidof sapwood-server` I don't see anything if I start alarmed as user but I get some output as root, also expectable of course22:40
freemangordonDataGhost: could you echo $TMPDIR?22:41
freemangordonfrom user and root22:41
DataGhost/var/tmp for both. somewhat odd that it's looking in /tmp for user and /var/tmp for root then22:42
freemangordonDataGhost: this is your problem then, your $TMPDIR should point to /var/lib.22:43
freemangordonoops22:43
freemangordon"/var/tmp"22:43
freemangordonsomehow your $TMPDIR is set to /tmp for those failing applications22:43
DataGhostyes but that's exactly what it points at, for user and for root. only thing is that alarmed/python *looks* in /tmp for user and in /var/tmp for root. I can't find this in a diff of all environment for both users22:43
freemangordonptrace/strace?22:44
DataGhostbut I'll keep looking into this then22:44
DataGhostjust a second, I'll pastebin the relevant parts22:44
freemangordonDataGhost: can you try run-standalone.sh echo $TMPDIR22:45

freemangordonDataGhost: try run-standalone.sh alarmd22:49
DataGhostalready did that, same result, and I guess you mean run-standalone.sh /opt/alarmed/alarmed.py22:49
