DocScrutinizerSpacedOut: I happen to have a browser window open on my desktop that I got on "todo": http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=1050432#post105043203:04
DocScrutinizerSpacedOut: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=690253&postcount=20 doesn't look like a daemon is needed to record end-of-call times to db03:06
DocScrutinizerAIUI it works with a stored procedure inside the sql db03:06
SpacedOutThanks for the pointers, I'll look into them.  I was surprised the end_time wasn't filled out since it was there, and I expected since it wasn't set it got forgotten or something.03:07
SpacedOutI also expected since it still wasn't being set years after the device was released if I wanted it set I had to do it myself.03:08

SpacedOutI read those posts and I'm sticking to my daemon approach, but thanks for sharing them.  The database trigger method is as dumb of logic as you can get, as in KISS, but adding any change in time to the last call fails when there are multiple calls in that direction.  The daemon I wrote can handle this, although I think there is a small window of opportunity if both calls start at the same time.04:03
SpacedOutAs far as the second set of scripts, they are running all the time.  So the trade off is something running all the time to collect the duration vs something running all the time to display it.04:04
SpacedOutDocScrutinizer: Was it on your todo list to enable updating the end_time on your phone or for some other reason?04:19
DocScrutinizererr what?04:20
DocScrutinizerwhat's running all the tine?04:20
SpacedOutJust curious why you had those bookmarked.04:20
DocScrutinizermy todo list resulted in me finally updating:04:20
DocScrutinizer~jrtools04:21
infobotjrtools is probably http://wiki.maemo.org/User:Joerg_rw/tools04:21
DocScrutinizernfc if e.g advanced call history app will display duration now that I've added that stored procedures to the database04:22
DocScrutinizerI'm not particularly interested in the "remaining minutes" display of the thread I originally posted above04:23
SpacedOutI still wonder why they had the field in the first place since they didn't populate it.04:23
DocScrutinizerI think they simply missed to add the triggers/SPs04:23
SpacedOutThe problem with the triggers approach is it just adds to the last call, no matter if you had two calls and the first ended last.  My daemon handles that case.04:24
DocScrutinizerthere's like 5 dozen such unfished nice raw building blocks in fremantle04:24
DocScrutinizerabsolutely same for profiles04:25
SpacedOutNo kidding for profiles, pick two.  I might go for three, sound+vibrate, vibrate, none, not two.04:25
DocScrutinizerall the low level stuff can handle as many different profiles as you want, just the status plugin is too braindamaged to get it right to do more than just "default" and "silent"04:26
DocScrutinizerwhich is especially sad when the top level shit is a closed blob you even have a hard time to replace by sth comprehensive04:27
DocScrutinizersame with dialer: it looks up the contact for inbound calls but misses to display the NUMBER!!04:28
DocScrutinizerFFS04:28
DocScrutinizerwe opened a bug against that BS in PR1.0 IIRC.04:29
DocScrutinizerNokia didn't care04:29
DocScrutinizerin PR1.3.1 you still got no clue whether your mom called from office, from home, from her mobile, or maybe even via SIP04:30
SpacedOutI guess they demonstrate the value of binary proprietary software, it works until you decide it doesn't do what you want it to.04:30
DocScrutinizerwell, I'm not correct with the SIP stuff, dialer is too stupid to get the "sip:" lead-in and "@mysipprovider.tld" stripped04:31
DocScrutinizersi a inbound from sip:12345@foo.bar never gets matched to contact with phone number 1234504:32
SpacedOutFor a long while I wanted to redo the GUI for answering the call so the answer and reject buttons were in the same place no matter if it was landscape or portrait, then I told it not to rotate.04:32
DocScrutinizerso*04:32
DocScrutinizeryeah, another PITA: USABILITY04:32
DocScrutinizerwhich *IDIO*** placed the accept and reject button next to each other?04:33
DocScrutinizer...instead of getting sliders rather than mere huge buttons, first instance04:33
SpacedOutThen there's the e-mail client.  I need to spend some more time on the IDLE patch to be notified within a few seconds of the e-mail being received, it works, but still has some threading deadlocks in it.04:33
SpacedOutYep, I've hung up on people trying to answer.  I'm not sure what the voice mail looking icon is supposed to do because it always gives me an error.04:34
SpacedOutI've been walking to thank Pali for packaging up the newer fennec, the previous one didn't work with IPv6, this one does.04:36

*** M4rtinK has joined #maemo-ssu16:28
amiconnWhat's puzzling me is that fennec is several times slower than microb, using the same web browser engine16:32
MohammadAGI _think_ microB is threaded16:39
MohammadAGthe engine runs in a completely separate process and the rendered page shows on the UI16:39
DocScrutinizernow that's for sure16:43
DocScrutinizera ps will prove it16:44
*** _rd_ has joined #maemo-ssu17:04

MohammadAGfennec runs it in the same process17:13
DocScrutinizerI guess in #maemo and #maemo chanlog you could find quite a number of answers regarding this topic17:15
RaimuBesides AIUI it isn't the exactly the same engine anymore. Anyway, even the different n900 fennec builds vary in speed.17:33
Raimuminus one instance of "the" here17:34
DocScrutinizer(LD_PRELOAD a patch to move the buttons) hah, my suggestion sine long. At least partially, I'd prefer to even replace style of buttons from mere pushbutton to a slider switch17:37
DocScrutinizerAIUI it's not exactly simple to implement that patch, but feasible17:38
*** _rd_ has quit IRC17:40
MohammadAGDocScrutinizer, the number of patches I've seen on iOS...17:45

naruonly maemo origneal os is working fine but i dont knw why popular chat appication no working proarly.. nimbuzz, fring whatsapp18:05
amiconnMohammadAG: While that might explain differences in "snappiness", it doesn't explain differences in overall speed18:09
naruin cssu you update toch parfomnce is to good and speed also now bettor but something missing18:10
narureal 3G video calling not suporting nokia n900 have front camera but wee cant use reall video calling18:12
andre__naru, how is that related to the CSSU? :)18:12
Lava_Croftuh18:12
narucssu update today i did upated its realy amaging18:13
naruandre can you tell me is it possibel real video calling in cssu update only gtalk and and skypee suported in n90018:15
andre__naru, what is "real"?18:16
* amiconn once compared microb, fennec, opera mobile and midori using rightmark's browsermark18:16
andre__Real Player has been dead for ages. :)18:16
narui m not telling real player .. i m telling cellulor video calling mins mobile numner to mobile number video calling that i wnt18:17
Lava_Croftmy eyes18:18
naruwhen its possibel in my n900 ?18:19
andre__naru, I have problems to read what you write :-(18:19
andre__it's hard to understand.18:19
andre__what is "mins"?18:19
naruandre have you n900 ?18:19
merlin1991andre__: by the, you asked for bugmeeting logs, what format and also where would you prefer them?18:19
amiconnThe clear winner was opera mobile with a score of ~17500, microb and midori where about equally fast (~12500). Fennec was the slowest by far: 250018:19
merlin1991s/by the,/by the way,/18:19
infobotmerlin1991 meant: andre__: by the way, you asked for bugmeeting logs, what format and also where would you prefer them?18:19
andre__merlin1991: any that is readable for the public when posting the link to it on a maemo mailing list and talk.maemo.org :)18:20
andre__naru, sure18:20
andre__three. :P18:20
merlin1991err why do you have 3? :D18:20
merlin1991I mean I run stock, testing and stable todo regression tests, but what's your rationale?18:21
naruthen tell me how you call video call in n900 ? only gtalk and by skypee na ?18:21
merlin1991naru: gtalk and skype should work, 3g video calls never were implemented18:21
andre__merlin1991, one has broken USB, the other ran MeeGo.18:21
merlin1991also cssu cannot provide you with an update for 3g video calls because the neccesary components are nokia closed source18:22
naruya that i m asking any updation for real video calling ?18:22
merlin1991not going to happen18:22
andre__naru: that's a question to Nokia who have that code.18:23
naruandree meego is slow in my n900 .. ya nemo working but my sim internet not working in nemo18:23
andre__and we're not Nokia.18:23
andre__MeeGo is deader than Maemo.18:23
andre__Nobody runs MeeGo anymore anyway. If at all, then Mer.18:23
andre__(Mer/Nemo)18:23
andre__anyway, that's not the topic here.18:23
andre__naru, see merlin1991's answer above, that explains everything.18:24
naruk andre18:24

DocScrutinizerand of course it is "legal"18:41
naruif my phone underworantty if i install cssu update then my worantty will not void na ?18:42
DocScrutinizerit's even supported by Nokia, see URL of repository18:42
DocScrutinizerno18:43
DocScrutinizerwarranty not void by using CSSU (or any app)18:43
naruocscrutinizer are you sure ? becuz its overclocking update thats why i m asking u18:43
DocScrutinizernevertheless Nokia care will not help with problems when you are using CSSU. They will ask you to revert to stock maemo version PR1.3.1 and then come back with your problem, if it still exists18:44
DocScrutinizeroverclocking is nasty, deprecated, and for sure will void your warranty18:45
DocScrutinizercssu is NOT about overclocking18:45
naruahahaha i knw that becuz i m in nokia care . i will flash phone if any problem will come18:46
DocScrutinizerwell, anyway... I'm busy and have to run. bye18:46
narui am thats why asking becuz today maemo platform is close18:46
naruits realy good maemo platform but its to hard to understend normal people18:47
DocScrutinizerN900 is not for "normal people"18:48
DocScrutinizerit's for people that otherwise would get a iPhone with jailbreak or an android with cyanogen18:48
naruya docsrutinzer thats true this is not phone this is big rocket hard to drive18:49
DocScrutinizeranyway, bye18:49
DocScrutinizerplease consider /join #maemo18:49
naruok bye thanks18:49
DocScrutinizeras this is the wrong channel to discuss generic maemo topics18:49
DocScrutinizereven when you got CSSU "installed", you are still running a "normal" maemo fremantle device18:50
narui m using cssu18:52
naruits realy nice working18:52
