brolin_empeyDoes an adapter to use an SODIMM as a full-size DIMM exist?10:10

brolin_empeyFor all of SDR SDRAM and all four generations of DDR SDRAM?10:11
brolin_empeyDo SDR SDRAM SODIMMs exist?  I thought they did but I have not changed RAM in a portable computer that uses SDR SDRAM in a long time.10:13
*** spiiroin has joined #maemo10:14

brolin_empeyhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SO-DIMM appears to only talk about DDR SDRAM so I still do not have an answer.  I could try to check what one of my Pentium III or earlier notebook computers uses.10:22
brolin_empeyYes, I realise that the original XBox uses a Pentium III and DDR SDRAM but that is the only Pentium Pro/II/III (P6 microarchitecture) computer I know of that uses DDR SDRAM instead of SDR SDRAM.10:25

brolin_empeyThe user manual for my Toshiba Satellite 2230CDS Pentium III (actually Coppermine Celeron) notebook computer from 2000 appears to say that the computer uses a SODIMM even though the manual does not actually use the term SODIMM.  So yes, I think SODIMMs we already used for SDR SDRAM, not only for DDR SDRAM.10:54
brolin_empeywere already used10:54

brolin_empeyYes, SDR SDRAM SODIMMs exist:11:13
brolin_empeyhttps://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=SO-DIMM&oldid=5429539711:13
brolin_empeySome time since 2006, information about SDR SDRAM SODIMMS appears to have been removed from the SODIMM article, presumably because someone thought that SDR SDRAM is no longer relevant even though the box about DRAM at the end of the article still covers pre-SDRAM technology such as SIMMs and FPM and EDO types of asynchronous DRAM.11:13
*** jskarvad has joined #maemo11:14
brolin_empeyActually, the current version of the article still covers SDR SDRAM types of SODIMMs but does not mention the data rate, which is why I thought the current version of the article talks only about DDR SDRAM.11:20

brolin_empeyhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchronous_dynamic_random-access_memory does not mention SODIMM at all?  Seriously?11:46
brolin_empeyApparently it is written as if only full-size DIMMs are used.11:47
brolin_empeyI edited the SO-DIMM article, which is the first edit this year.12:08
brolin_empeyThe photograph of the PC100 SODIMM from the article in 2006 should be readded to the current version of the article but I do not want to sidetrack myself that much.12:10

warfaresicelo: The whole machine crashed, something was eating all memory. - should be back up.16:36

sicelowarfare: one dayp the redirect when logging into maemo.org using HTTPS should be checked. after credentials are entered, it tries to load non-HTTPS version of the site, and at least at my end, doesn't succeed. So I have to prepend https:// again, and only then it loads fine16:44

WikiwideDesktop file - is it abiword.desktop ? How do I check whether the app gets file parameter in here? What's a good example of an app which does get file parameter in here?21:34

Wikiwidebrolin_empey: LCD for Nokia N900 may have been made by Sony, but flex cable looks like something custom-made for Nokia. And I don't expect it to be possible to transfer LCD flex cable from a broken LCD to a new Sony LCD?22:01
brolin_empeyWikiwide: Some wiki page I redd weeks or months ago, maybe on elinux.org (?), has the hardware specifications and low-level software specifics for the N900 and says the model of Sony LCD the N900 uses.  I think I redd the page on my office computer but I am currently at home and I intentionally do not synchronise my Web browser between my home computer and office computer.22:09
WikiwideOkay, thank you :-)  It would be nice to know22:13
WikiwideProblem is, even digitizer (which has a more standard flex connector) is difficult to replace because the metal part gets easily damaged/bent if you try to detach old digitizer from it.22:14
WikiwideIn short, all these custom-made metal/plastic mechanical parts are a problem. Glue, too - compact but very, very inconvenient. Even screws can be trouble.22:15
