freemangordonxes: I don't think we have one :(01:15
freemangordoncssu is effectively dead, fremantle port to devuan seems to be progressing way slower than I hoped, so...01:16

xesand maemo-browser uses internal nss to connect to https ..isn't it?01:19
freemangordonafaik yes01:30
freemangordonbut I doubt we'll be able to port newer nss. And even if we are able, we don;t have any means to distribute it01:31
freemangordonxes: the point is that I don't see any other dev (besides Wizzup, but it seems he has already too much stuff on the plate) interested in helping with maemo port01:54
xesfreemangordon: actual devuan image can be used also in chroot?01:55
freemangordonthe best we could hope for is 2 or 3 more devs, porting FOSS stuff, with me doing the REing work01:55
freemangordonI doubt01:55
freemangordonit has jessie libc, and maemo kernel is too old afaik01:55
*** xy2_ has quit IRC01:55
freemangordonxes: you may want to look at https://github.com/dyne/arm-sdk01:59
freemangordonit is really easy to be used, and you01:59
freemangordoncan tweak the board script to your needs01:59
freemangordonlike pre-installing lxde or whatever02:00
freemangordonxes: on https://github.com/dyne/arm-sdk/blob/next/boards/nokia-n900.sh#L36 you may add whatever packages you need to be installed in the image02:02
xesvery interesting and also pretty easy to guess02:05

sunshaviHi freemangordon05:04
sunshaviI have had jessie until last week (now on strech)05:04
sunshavihttp://termbin.com/tlua05:17
sunshavikotczarny shared his n900 chroot with me (I installed on the orange pi ). With that chroot I was able of compiling more than one package (for n900). So the best bet could be something similar for devuan. Perhaps We could prepare a devuan-chroot for orange pi. Then anyone with an h3 device (4 cores) could compile more than one package. That way we could make a list of pendant packages and more than one person could compile it.05:20
DocScrutinizer05the idea was to keep the repos, nit to rebuild them05:28

freemangordonthis is linus pulling some other tree19:16
DocScrutinizer05yeah, nevermind I have no clue about git19:16
freemangordonhe is the only one with rights to push in master branch afaik19:17
DocScrutinizer05I just seem to understand that https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/log/arch/arm/boot/dts/omap3-n900.dts doesn't tell me who's contributing to N900 branch specifically19:18

freemangordonthis is linux kernel master branch19:18
DocScrutinizer05made my point I guess19:19

bencohindeed ;p19:19
freemangordonbut for individual files or directories you may check the history, thus https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/log/arch/arm/boot/dts/omap3-n900.dts19:19
freemangordonmaybe I missed your point, however my point was that it is not only me and Pali :)19:19
DocScrutinizer05good!19:20
freemangordonerr0r3o3_: you'd better use mainline kernel tree19:20
bencohfreemangordon: why?19:20
freemangordonu-boot unable to find the uImage has nothing to do with the kernel version itself19:20
DocScrutinizer05LOL for sure not19:21
freemangordonbencoh: because there is nothing on Pali's tree needed by upstream distros and it has "hacks" neede by maemo which may interfere19:21
bencohI thought it included unmergeable/not-yet-merged patches as well?19:22
freemangordonupstream has even bluetooth and cameras, how functional is another story, but still :)19:22
DocScrutinizer05while we're at it, how would I actually check who committed to a particular file in git?19:22
freemangordonbencoh: it contains, but those are neede by maemo19:22
bencohDocScrutinizer05: git log19:22
DocScrutinizer05web git ;-P19:23
freemangordonuse "log"19:23
DocScrutinizer05and then find or what?19:23
DocScrutinizer05ooh you say https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/log/arch/arm/boot/dts/omap3-n900.dts actually has edits to that particular file only?19:23

freemangordon(19,19,20) freemangordon: but for individual files or directories you may check the history, thus https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/log/arch/arm/boot/dts/omap3-n900.dts19:24

DocScrutinizer05though it's meant to be as hw-compatible as it gets, we have quite a few new things in there19:30
bencohI'm terribly sorry about it, I should've updated you on friday - didn't have a moment19:30
DocScrutinizer05freemangordon: how would kernel(?) decide which DTS (???) is the right one to use, IOW how does kernel know which device it's running on?19:31
freemangordonno need to sorry, I am overloaded as well so it is understandable. So I assume you won;t have time and I will have to do it, right?19:31
freemangordonDocScrutinizer05: in case of n900 you "attach" dtb to the kernel zImage19:32
DocScrutinizer05oooh good, so simple and straight forward19:32
DocScrutinizer05outright easy19:32
freemangordonfor devices where bootloader supports DT, DTB is passed by bootloader to the kernel, afaik19:32
freemangordonyep19:33
DocScrutinizer05now neo900 DTS 'only' needs new sensors and a few changed switches19:33

DocScrutinizer05freemangordon: merlin1991: what do you DTS guys need to create the Neo900 DTS? I probably can already provide everything needed23:35
*** spiiroin has quit IRC23:36
DocScrutinizer05except for a real test platform, which will take a "few weeks" longer until we got some23:36
DocScrutinizer05I guess what you need is I2C/whatever address and exact type of sensor/actor chip?23:38
DocScrutinizer05plus the DTS of latest (huge-RAM, DM3730) GTA0423:40
DocScrutinizer05btw we finally decided to use original N900 kbd concept (kbd matrix scanner of TWL4030), so the new dedicated matrix scanner chip will be in Neo900 proto_v2 only23:42
DocScrutinizer05one less new driver/DTS patch needed23:42
DocScrutinizer05for final Neo90023:43
