_0x47trying to compile a software in scratchbox. I need the boost libraries > 1.40, but only 1.38 is available in extras-devel. Right now I;m building them on my own, but I am unsure if that works with the repos later on. Anyone could give me a hint how I could manage this to work properly? I'm trying to build the application, create .deb files and upload it to etras-devel. I would have unresolved dependencies tho, right? Any idea?12:53
amigadave_0x47: in order to not have unresolved dependencies, you would need to upload a boost >1.40 package to extras-devel12:56
_0x47okay, i'd be fine with that, but to be honest I never did that before (building a .deb file / uploading to repos). I remember there was kind of a howto site on maemo.org, but I was wondering how I could find the dependencies of the libboost packages. and also, I can't find the libboost "garage-site" or anyone I could contact to disuss with him (the maintainer).12:58
amigadaveboost is probably a big and scary package to build, but you could take a recent package from Debian or Ubuntu to make it easier13:00
amigadavehttp://maemo.org/packages/source/view/fremantle_extras-devel_free_source/boost1.38/1.38.0-6maemo2/ might be helpful13:00
_0x47oh yeah, that's probably the page I couldn't find. Thanks! YEah, Ubuntu 10.04 has the 1.40 libs, so I could add them. kk, let me try to dig around. If I can't figure it out I'll come back :)13:01
amigadavethis wiki page might be useful too: http://wiki.maemo.org/Port_an_existing_Debian_package13:03
_0x47Thanks alot!13:07

_0x47damnit, I can't get the ubuntu repos to work13:59
_0x47getting 404s all the time13:59
_0x47resolv.conf should be perfectly okay13:59
_0x47both /scratchbox/etc/resolv.conf and /scratchbox/users/slash/etc/resolv.conf14:00
_0x47any idea what could be wrong here?14:02
*** kW_ has joined #maemo-devel14:08
_0x47well, iit seems ubuntu either doesn't support armel at all, or just not yet. the debian unstable repositories work fine :)14:16
*** corecode has left #maemo-devel14:19
_0x47amigadave: do i have to do the porting from debian inside the scratchbox? it seems the tools are pretty outdated and I cannot get the source from apt. (dpkg-source: error: Unsupported format of .dsc file (3.0 (quilt))) I also already built the boost sources successfully in the FREMANTLE_ARMEL target. May it be easier to create a .deb from these? Even tho it seems only to work with make and the like. They use "bjam" tho. Guess this might be a bit oversized14:50
amigadave_0x47: if you want your package to build on the autobuilder then yes, you will need to adapt it to the Scratchbox versions of the build tools14:51
amigadaveor use http://maemo.org/packages/view/debhelper7/14:51
_0x47ok, let me read14:52
amigadavealso http://wiki.maemo.org/Packaging#Debhelper_7 has more information on debhelper 714:53
_0x47amigadave: so with debhelper 7 i'd have to create the .debs from source, if i get it right. It turns out to be quite painful to do so, as I'd have to magically find all the dependencies and Makefiles and what not. Shouldn't there be anyone having the same troubles with the new source package format of debian (3.0)?15:27
*** kgorelov has joined #maemo-devel15:27
_0x47http://wiki.debian.org/Projects/DebSrc3.015:28
_0x47it's at least in testing and unstable15:28
_0x47iirc the stable distri has still boost 1.3815:28
kgorelovHi everybody. Is it possible to build a package for diablo (N800) using Maemo 5 (fremantle) sdk?15:29
amigadave_0x47: you would have to create the source package (.deb) regardless of the debhelper version15:30
amigadavei did say that packaging boost was probably scary ;)15:30
_0x47well, but by porting it  from debian I'd just have to change a bunch of lines and that's it15:30
_0x47see, boost is a bunch of libraries, so how to split them to different .debs now?15:30
_0x47in the repos they're already seperated and I'd just have to get them, change the stuff explained in the wiki and upload them15:31
amigadavethe split debs are binary packages, you would only upload a single source package15:31
amigadavewhich contains all the logic to split off the seperate binaries15:32
_0x47would I have to implement the logic?15:32
amigadaveit should be there already, have you looked at the boost source package in Debian?15:32
_0x47well, that's the point: I can't. It's broken in the SDK15:33
_0x47different format of source packages15:33
_0x47I mean, keep in mind I never did that before, hence my questions might be quite noobish. I assume it's not possible to take the outdated boost sources from extra-devel and update it to 1.40 (from the original sources) and then again upload it. That would be too easy...15:35
amigadavedepends on the changes between 1.38 and 1.40, i would guess they are quite extensive, so it would not work without major changes in the source package15:35
_0x47oh god this is quite a bi*ch, going to get the maemo sources now and hoping to find something useful in there15:37
amigadave_0x47: looking at debian/changelog from the boost source package, 1.40 did not use the quilt source format, so you might be able to copy it15:41
_0x47amigadave: so you mean it was converted after being there for some time? let me check15:47
amigadaveyep, the first quilt version was 1.4115:48
_0x47okok awesome, 1.40 would work fine, lemme check15:51
_0x47ok, the 1.40 from squeeze is already quilt15:53
_0x47could you point me to where you got the packet from15:53
_0x47?15:53
*** Venemo1 has joined #maemo-devel15:53
_0x47hm15:54
amigadavehmm, the changelog says that the quilt changes were made in 1.41, but i did not check the binary packages15:54
_0x47they changed it even in 1.4015:54
_0x47see15:54
_0x47http://packages.debian.org/changelogs/pool/main/b/boost1.40/boost1.40_1.40.0-6/changelog#versionversion1.40.0-515:54
_0x47but maybe i can get it from the snapshots15:55
*** Venemo has quit IRC15:55
amigadaveyeah, the changelog mentions that the 1.40-5 changes were merged into 1.41, so i was looking at 1.40-4 as the last non-quilt version15:56
_0x47:( and the snapshots don't contain the libboost1.40-dev package15:57
